Salford 2-0 Walsall – Player ratings
Following Walsall's 2-0 loss away to Salford City on Boxing Day, Liam Keen rates the players on their performance.
Jack Rose - 6
Rose was slightly slow with his distribution at times, to the frustration of his team-mates, but he made no major errors.
Hayden White - 5
White lost his marker for the first Salford goal and flattered to deceive going forward and with the ball at his feet. Not a disastrous performance, but not effective.
Dan Scarr - 6
Scarr looked shaky at times in defence and gave away a few slack balls in possession. He also should have netted from a set piece. Not Scarr’s best.
James Clarke - 7
Clarke was the most composed of the defence. His leadership and experience shone through in a decent performance.
Cameron Norman - 6
For a player who has been superb all season, Norman struggled. He looked out of place at left-back and then frustrated with his team-mates when back in his more natural right-back.
Alfie Bates - 6
A decent showing from Bates who never lacks willingness to get on the ball. He could have done more with it, however, as he failed to find those cross-field balls he aims for.
Liam Kinsella - 7
When Salford broke forward Kinsella was the one player never giving up as he tracked back. He won several battles in midfield and did the ugly side of the game well, which he always does.
Josh Gordon - 6
It is certainly a positive to see Gordon get 90 minutes of football following his injury, but it did not quite click for him. He is still getting up to speed and looks a bit tentative in tackles, which is understandable. There is more to come.
Emmanuel Osadebe - 5
Osadebe is a player that shows promise and talent but he unfortunately did not take this opportunity. He was largely anonymous throughout, aside from his occasional spark in attacking areas.
Wes McDonald - 6
McDonald looked alive in the opening stages but was frozen out in the second half as his team-mates played the ball long. They need to get him the ball to make things happen. The team missed Rory Holden and his ability to find players.
Elijah Adebayo - 6
A hard-working performance again from Adebayo who held the ball up well and tried to bring his team-mates into play. At times, the delivery into him was poor and it stopped the striker from utilising his talents in front of goal.
