The Bournemouth loanee was one of four players who came on at half-time with the Saddlers trailing 2-0.

Scrimshaw netted first before grabbing a second in the 4-3 win and the 20-year-old was delighted to find the net.

He said: “I’ve never felt better. It’s a dream come true.

“I’ve dreamt of this moment ever since I was a kid. That first one when I saw it roll in, I couldn’t explain the feeling I had.

“To get the second one was even better, to top it off.

“It was a huge second half. The improvement was massive from the team.

“My goal helped us back into it and then Scarry (Dan Scarr) scored and the lads going forward created lots of chances and put them on a plate for us.”

Scrimshaw’s phone was buzzing with messages from friends, family and Bournemouth team-mates throughout his post-match interview.

He added: “I can’t explain. The feeling I have right now is amazing.

“It’s a dream come true, especially to do it here in such a game that has got us our fourth win on the bounce. It’s amazing.”

Meanwhile, Darrell Clarke has hailed his side’s ‘togetherness’, although he has apologised for his team selection.

“I have to apologise for the team I picked,” Clarke said.

“Everybody is saying roll out the same team, so I apologise for that.

“Most times when I play three games in a week I change the team and make two or three changes. I didn’t do that today.

“I’m disappointed in that aspect but then the response from the lads that came on and came off was tremendous.

“It shows that we have a squad that is together. There was no-one chucking teacups around at half-time.

“Players were obviously disappointed that they came off the pitch but they got behind their team-mates that were going on the pitch.

“That’s a good sign of the togetherness that we have but I’m certainly kicking myself for the team that I started with.”
