The former Albion youngster has largely played second-fiddle to Liam Roberts ever since joining the Saddlers from Southampton in July 2019.

Rose featured in four league games for Walsall last season and has started the last two this term.

But at 25-years-old he knows the time has come for him to establish himself as a number one goalkeeper.

“I have been searching for games for a number of seasons now,” Rose said.

“My first league appearance here was October last year and I then got a couple more games I then played in the February against Port Vale at home. But seen then I have only played in the EFL Cup.

“It is never easy coming in and giving 100 per cent every day knowing you are not going to play – but you have to do it.

“There could be an injury on the Friday or there could be a first minute incident where you have to come on. You have to be ready and you have to be training right.

“Now I have got this opportunity I need to take it. I need to put in good performances and help the team.”
