Liam Roberts - 6

The goalkeeper did nothing terribly wrong but was slightly slow with his distribution, which halted Walsall’s momentum at times.

Cameron Norman - 7

Another solid performance from Norman who has proved himself to be an exceptionally consistent player this season.

Dan Scarr - 7

On the whole Scarr did well and defended Brandon Hanlan effectively, although the pacey forward had too much occasionally.

Mat Sadler - 6

Taken off to preserve his ageing legs, Sadler did fine but looked tired.

Zak Jules - 7

Jules handled the game well considering he was booked within three minutes. It was a mature performance considering the circumstances.

Rory Holden - 6

Holden struggled to influence the game out wide in the first half and looked brighter when he drifted inside. A slightly laboured showing.

Stuart Sinclair - 5

Unfortunately, a poor showing against his former club. He always tries hard but was largely anonymous and it showed when the defence had a lack of protection.

Liam Kinsella - 6

Much better in the second half than the first, Kinsella looked far more comfortable with a ball-playing midfielder alongside him like Alfie Bates.

Wes McDonald - 6

Another game with contrasting performances in the two halves. When McDonald keeps it simple, he is far more effective.

Elijah Adebayo - 6

Adebayo should have scored in the first half and at times looked like he needed a rest. He was still causing issues, however, and is important to this team.

Caolan Lavery - 7

Lavery is a potent finisher and took his goal superbly and was unfortunate not to get another. He came alive in the second half after a disappointing first half.

Substitutes
