Walsall sign Birmingham youngster Adan George on short-term loan
Walsall have signed Birmingham youngster Adan George on-loan until January 3, 2021.
The 18-year-old signed his first pro-contract with Blues back in the summer and has already featured twice for the first team – against Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup and against Brentford on the opening day of the Championship season.
George had a loan spell at Bromsgrove Sporting in 2018 and impressed during Birmingham’s run in last season’s FA Youth Cup.
Saddlers manager Darrell Clarke has been targetting loan reinforcements after striker Josh Gordon was ruled out for at least two months with a medial knee injury. Clarke was keen to secure the player on a 'free loan' and as a result Birmingham are paying George's wages in full.
Clarke said: “Adan will be a good addition to the squad.
“He’s fast, powerful and is capable of scoring goals so will be an exciting addition to the team.
“In these difficult and challenging times, we’re really grateful to Birmingham for allowing him to join on loan without us having to contribute towards his wages and therefore at no cost to the club.”
