In many ways, Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient has changed the club’s start to the campaign from average to very good as they have recorded two wins and three draws in the opening five games.

The Saddlers have the longest unbeaten run in the top four divisions with 10 games, stretching back to last season, and Scarr has hailed the intensity in training for their change in fortunes.

“We’ve been with each other for a good while now, the majority of the squad,” he said.

“We know what the lad’s quality is like and we’re always going to have chances.

“In the last few games we’ve had loads of good chances and if they start going in, I think we’ll be a good side, a proper good side.

“Training, in and around the dressing room, games – everyone has that bit of bite about them this season.

“Last season we were good players and we were gelling together towards the end and hitting home.

“We’ve carried that on this season and we just need to start picking up results and keep getting points on the board.

“It’s about time we got over that line and got a win. In the last few games the hard work is starting to pay off, we’ve looked good. We’ve looked dangerous.

“We can stop some right sloppy mistakes and hopefully keep the wins rolling on. Even when we do make little upsets we’re bouncing back and it’s not affecting us.”
