Darrell Clarke: Walsall fans 'absolutely awesome' with support
Walsall manager Darrell Clarke has hailed the ‘absolutely awesome’ Saddlers supporters for their help in bringing the club through the coronavirus pandemic.
With no fans in the stadium for the foreseeable future, the club is expecting a tough winter as they battle to stay afloat.
Supporters’ groups have already begun raising money and generating ideas to help the club and Clarke insists he has been touched by the response.
“It’s absolutely awesome and it makes myself and my players more determined to do well for the supporters of the football club,” he said.
“I’ve said it in every football club that I’ve managed, these are the heartbeat of the communities.
“Managers come and go, players come and go but it’s the supporters’ football club and that’s what it is up and down the country.
"It’s really touching to see the amount of supporters that we have pulling together and trying their best to try and help the football club.
"It’s important that we’re all doing our part. Everyone is playing their part and has the best interests at heart to make sure we survive through this.
"That togetherness is what I try to build at football clubs, the chairman is the same, and it seems to me that we have a hell of a lot of supporters that are fully behind that and the support they’ve given us is absolutely fantastic.
“It’s very much appreciated.”
