After the government announced fans will likely not return to football stadiums for another six months, clubs across the Football League have been left wondering how they will survive without income.

Grants from the government or Premier League are yet to be finalised and Saddlers chairman Leigh Pomlett urged supporters last week to go ahead with their ideas to raise funds.

Now, Walsall Supporters for Change have launched a Just Giving page, raising almost £2,000 since it was set up on Tuesday.

Chairman Rob Harvey said: “On the days where Walsall have a game that you would have usually attended you could perhaps donate the cost of a pint of beer you’d have had, or any food or hot drinks you may have had.

“If you would have bought a match ticket, you can even donate the amount you’d have paid for a ticket should you wish to.

“There is no limit to the amount you can donate, but be assured that every last penny donated will be presented to Walsall Football Club.

"It is in times of need that our football club needs its supporters more than ever. That time is now.”
