Darrell Clarke: Walsall focus on united front
Walsall manager Darrell Clarke has highlighted the importance of the local community as the club battle to survive the coronavirus pandemic.
Chairman Leigh Pomlett made a rallying call on Friday as he urged everyone to pull together during the tough financial climate.
Now, with fans unable to return to the stadium for the foreseeable future and the club expecting a tough six months, Clarke has called attention to the ‘united front’ at the club.
“The Walsall fans are great supporters,” he said.
“We have big clubs on our doorstep and it’s important that we get the players out there as much as we can with Covid.
“We’re getting interaction with supporters. I’ve always managed that way.
“As a manager you have to win football games and I’ll always understand that but you have to make sure that the players have access to the fans and there’s a good togetherness.
“Through the football club and the community and through different avenues, it’s important that we do that.
“It’s important that win, lose or draw we continue to do that and pulling together – a united front.”
