The 19-year-old winger joined from Reading in January, but could only make four substitute appearances for the Saddlers before the coronavirus pandemic brought the season to a premature close.

And with the 2020/21 campaign set to be condensed into a shorter timeframe because of its late start, Nolan is expecting the forthcoming weeks and months to be relentless.

“It’s a massive season for me and a massive season for everyone at the club,” he said. “The gaffer has made it clear what he wants us to do, and this season especially the games are going to come thick and fast.

“It may be two or three games a week depending on how far we get in competitions, so it’s going to be a massive season and we’re going to need a massive squad.”

Nolan got another hour of match action under his belt in Tuesday’s pre-season draw with Wolves Under-23s, and they play again today against Shrewsbury Town. “It was very tough on the body for the first week, but it’s great to be in and around the lads again,” added Nolan.
