Stuart Sinclair hails board through tough time
Saddlers veteran Stuart Sinclair has praised the club’s ‘amazing’ board for their work during a challenging coronavirus pandemic.
The team have not taken to the pitch since the 3-1 win over Exeter on March 7, meaning income into the club was cut short.
Despite the financial pressure, chairman Leigh Pomlett has kept in regular contact with fans – a move that has been welcomed by supporters – and midfielder Sinclair, who insists he will be with Walsall for the 2020/21 campaign, has heaped praise on the club’s hierarchy.
“The chairman has been amazing and it’s galvanised the club,” he told the Express & Star. “Although this period has been tough, it’s shone a light on how good a position the club is in. The board has been amazing, they are good people. That’s the same with the fans and it’s such an important thing for the club to move forward, for us all to be in it together. That’s why it’s such a good thing to be a part of and that’s why I’m excited to move forwards and progress.”
Some staff have taken temporary pay cuts and a number are working voluntarily during the crisis.
Meanwhile, the EFL announced last night that a meeting in which the League Two season is expected to be curtailed will take place on Tuesday.
