Joe Willis and Sam Perry offered first professional contracts with Walsall
A pair of Walsall academy midfielders have been offered their first professional contracts with the club.
Joe Willis and Sam Perry have broken into the first team this season, as they both made their first team debuts against Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy in January.
Perry played the full 90 minutes in an impressive display, while Willis came off the bench.
Now, the two 18-year-olds have been offered professional terms with the club as they aim for more first team opportunities.
"Sam and Joe have progressed well this year and that is why they have been offered a professional contract with the Club," manager Darrell Clarke said.
"I mentioned when I first came to the club that I wanted us to get back to what this club was all about in bringing players through the system and I'm glad we've been able to bring another two through.
"They've both seen how well Alfie Bates has done this year so they will be hoping they can emulate what he has done but now is the time for them to put in the hard work and graft that is needed."
The pair are the only two first-year pros to be offered contracts with the club.
Fellow academy youngsters Dominic Rogerson, Danny Coogan, Alex McSkeane and Perry Moss have all been officially released by the club but Clarke has invited them all to train with the first team when the club returns to training following the coronavirus pandemic.
Jack Walton and Alex Petrovics have been released by the club and not invited back to train.
