Walsall put plans on hold to introduce rail seating
Walsall have put plans on hold to introduce a section of rail seating at the Banks's Stadium.
In a statement on the club's website, the hierarchy has decided to halt plans to introduce the seats on the back five rows of the HomeServe lower tier, after a fan survey.
The Saddlers have discussed the possibility of rail seating at fan meetings over the last year.
After consulting the council and Sports Ground Safety Authority to gauge the costs, the club carried out a survey with the 551 season ticket holders who sit in the proposed area.
Of those asked only 87 fans took part and just under 55 per cent of them were in favour of the move.
However, when asked if they would be prepared to pay a one-off £75 payment for the plans, 80 per cent of them said no – resulting in the club putting the plans on ice.
The statement read: "We do not feel that this is something we can progress at the present time.
"We will continue to keep this on our agenda and we will continue discussions with supporter groups, the local authority and SGSA."
