Exeter 3 Walsall 3 - Player ratings
Liam Keen rates the Walsall players after the 3-3 draw away to Exeter.
LIAM ROBERTS
Despite conceding three goals, Roberts had a decent game. None of the goals were his fault and the equaliser was particularly harsh on the shot-stopper as it deflected and trickled past him. 6
SHAY FACEY
With Cameron Norman failing to even get on the bench in recent weeks, Facey is clearly the club's best right-back. He did well again in this game and defended well against tough attacking threats. 6
JAMES CLARKE
Darrell Clarke kept faith in his skipper after a poor showing against Macclesfield and it proved warranted. He was much better on the ball and far more solid defensively this time around, he did well. 6
DAN SCARR
For the first 30 minutes Scarr was exceptional and was on course for a much higher rating. Alongside the rest of the defence he slacked off a bit, particularly at the end of the first half. 6
CAMERON PRING
The left-back, on his first start since returning from injury, put in the best display among the back line. Defensively solid he also proved an attacking threat as a wing-back in the second half. 7
LIAM KINSELLA
Another player who was far better than the performance against Macclesfield. The midfield three suited him and he battled well against some very physical opposition. He now needs to get forward more. 7
DANNY GUTHRIE
The midfielder was far more effective with the ball against Exeter and also did well mopping up in front of the defence. He looked far more energetic in the middle than he has in recent weeks. 6
STUART SINCLAIR
Sinclair rounds off a list of several players who did much better than against Macclesfield. His first half in particular was impressive and he tried to force the issue going forward in the second 45. 7
WES MCDONALD
Not the best afternoon for the tricky winger who struggled to have an affect on the game before his substitution at half-time. He had a couple runs with the ball but his best moment was the cross for Gordon's goal. 5
JOSH GORDON
Gordon played the first 45 on the right wing and he did it well. He was still a threat going forward and took his goal very well, crashing in at the back post to head home. His second half was disappointing though. 7
CAOLAN LAVERY
Lavery was excellent in the first half. His finish was clinical and ruthless, it was brilliant. In the second half he was starved of service but did well to create a few chances within that, working as hard as ever. 8
SUBS: Sadler (for McDonald 45) 6, Bates (for Guthrie 73) 6, Gaffney (for Gordon 80) 6.
Subs not used: Rose, K.Roberts, Holden, Adebayo.
