Liam Kinsella won’t worry where he is played at Walsall
Versatile Saddlers midfielder Liam Kinsella is prepared to play in any position he's asked to as he battles for a place in the team.
The 23-year-old, who is normally utilised as a centre midfielder, started the fixtures against Bradford and Morecambe in left midfield.
He lost his place in the starting XI to out-and-out winger Wes McDonald against Scunthorpe and Crawley but came on in the latter game to replace the 21-year-old.
“I’ve been centre midfield, right-back, left-wing, all over, but I don’t mind as long as I’m on the pitch, that’s all that matters to me," Kinsella said.
“It’s a new position for me but I’m adapting to it and working on it in training. If you’re playing in that position you want to get goals and assists because it’s a more attacking role so hopefully I can do that.
“It’s nice that the gaffer trusts me to play in any position, like I say, all I can do is my best for him.
“I’d say centre midfield is probably my best position, getting up and down the pitch, winning tackles, getting on the ball and giving the forwards the ball to do something special.
“Being on the pitch and playing the football is all that matters to me. Wherever he wants me to play I’ll always give it 100 per cent."
The Walsall academy product came off the bench against Scunthorpe to earn his 100th appearance in a Saddlers shirt and after relegation from League One last season Kinsella wants to repay the club's faith in him
He added: “The club has been fantastic to me since I was eight and you couldn’t ask for much more from the club so hopefully we can give it back on the pitch and get the club back on the way to where it belongs.
“I’m just enjoying my football at Walsall and can’t ask for much more.
“I’m delighted, as a young kid you want to reach that milestone and thankfully on Saturday I came off the bench and it was a big achievement for me.
“Once you start as a young kid you just want to get that first game but then when the games keep coming thick and fast you don’t realise how many games you’ve played but 100 games is a dream come true.
“It’s not a good experience getting relegated but there’s confidence in the group."
