Walsall sign Cameron Pring on loan
Walsall have secured their third signing in as many days after snapping up full-back Cameron Pring on a season-long loan from Bristol City.
The left-sided defender arrives just 24-hours after Darrell Clarke also added former Northampton right-back Shay Facey to his ranks ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign.
Midfielder Jack Kiersey was also snapped up on Monday.
Pring, who is Walsall's seventh signing of the summer, made 15 appearances in League Two last season during loan spells with Newport County and hometown club Cheltenham Town.
The 21-year-old has also enjoyed stints with Merthyr Town, Aldershot Town and Hereford.
"I’m buzzing to be here,” Pring said.
“It is a big club and I am really looking forward to getting going now that I am here.
“I will be looking to pick up as many minutes as possible and keep my spot in the team – that’s the biggest goal of mine.
“I am quick and like to get up and down the wing, attacking rather than just defending and sitting back. I would say I am a powerful presence in the team as well.
“Game time is crucial at this stage of your career. I’m 21 so it’s the perfect time to head out on loan again.
“Coming in early during pre-season allows me plenty of time to get to know everyone, hopefully I can do well here.”
Pring will compete with Callum Cockerill-Mollett for the left-back spot.
Clarke first became aware of the 21-year-old during his time in charge of Bristol Rovers.
And the boss believes the full-back adds quality to his squad.
“Cameron is a lad I’ve known quite a bit about for a while," Clarke said.
"He’s a Bristol City boy so when I was working at Rovers, I knew a lot about the youngsters down there.
“He’s had a couple of loans already at this level and I’ve seen the boy grow over the last couple of years.
“He’s robust, can win headers and is certainly going to add a bit of quality in the left-back area.”
