Darrell Clarke: Walsall goal is to put results first
Boss Darrell Clarke is taking an outcome-over-process approach at Walsall as ‘philosophy is the most over-used word’ in the game.
Clarke is the man Saddlers have entrusted to get them going again after relegation.
And while he wants to implement a style of play that is easy on the eye with a fresh set of players, he knows it is no good if results do not come with it.
“I want to play entertaining football, but philosophy is the most over-used word in football, in my opinion,” said Clarke.
“Whatever philosophies are, you have got to win games as a football manager. What I can say is I will give everything for the football club. The players will give everything for the football club.
“And everybody, including my staff, will be working hard to get the football club back where it belongs.
"There will be plenty of new faces coming in over the course of the summer. It’s about starting afresh.”
