The 31-year-old, who played under Clarke at Rovers and Salisbury, is the Saddlers' first new signing for next season in League Two.

Sinclair spent five years at the Memorial Stadium and won promotion from both the Conference and the fourth tier. He also won promotion from Conference South at Salisbury.

"He’s a lad I know very, very well and he’s shared many a promotion with me," said Clarke.

"He’s the sort of personality and character we need to be bringing into the changing room. He knows how to get success out of League Two.

“Not only does he bring on-field ability, he’s a great lad and we need a bit of leadership in the changing room, more so this season.

“He ticks a lot of boxes and I’m delighted to have got him. He’s had plenty of offers on the table but I’m grateful he’s chosen to link up with myself and Walsall.”

Sinclair will officially join Walsall on July 1, when his Rovers contract comes to an end.

“It’s exciting times. It has been a tough period for the club but now it’s all about getting that excitement back and moving forward and being successful," said Sinclair.

“I was at Bristol Rovers for a long time and I enjoyed a successful period with them. It’s a new challenge now and that is exciting.

“It’s a great club, and I can’t wait to meet the supporters and everybody at the club.

“I have a close relationship with the gaffer and I know what he can bring to the table. I can trust him and that is important for me personally.

“When he told me about things here at Walsall, I was extremely excited.

“I’m an honest and energetic kind of player and I will do everything I can to help us win football games.

“That’s what I have tried to put forward in my footballing career, so hopefully that will come across to the supporters.”
