A dreadful display at Accrington last weekend means the Saddlers hopes of avoiding relegation are hanging by a thread heading into the Easter weekend.

With just four games left to play, Martin O’Connor’s side host Southend on Friday before travelling to take on Wycombe on Monday.

And having now lost six matches on the spin, Devlin says he and his team-mates must be prepared to do anything they can to win both games.

“We have got to get out of this anyway we can,” the Scotsman said.

“The games don’t get any bigger than the next two – two teams we are trying to claw back.

“Any way possible, we have got to start getting points on the board.

“Other teams keep giving us chances but we keep losing, we never take advantage of it.

“There is no point in those teams losing if we can’t get points ourselves.

“There have been so many times this season where we just haven’t been good enough.

“That is something, individually, we have all got to look at.

“But the game against Southend is one we just have to win.”

Meanwhile, interim manager O’Connor has offered a fitness update on Adam Chambers and Matt Jarvis who both look set to miss the Easter games.

Chambers has missed almost the entire campaign after breaking his foot in the opening day win over Plymouth.

While Norwich loanee Jarvis hasn’t played since the goalless draw at Burton on March 2 after picking up an ankle problem.

The winger previously was sidelined for two years with a different ankle issue.

“Adam has trained with us for a few days now which is a good sign,” O’Connor said.

“Jarvis is still having treatment with the physio, we assess that on a daily basis.”
