Corey Blackett -Taylor: Walsall will set survival standard
Corey Blackett-Taylor is adamant Walsall have the quality and character needed to stay in League One.
The Saddlers travel to Doncaster tomorrow desperate to secure a win that will take them out the bottom four.
Currently sixth in the table, Donny ended an eight-game winless run by thumping Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
Walsall, meanwhile, have lost their last three following a tough run that saw them take on Portsmouth, Sunderland and Barnsley.
Despite those losses, Dean Keates’ side have put in decent performances over the past month.
And Blackett-Taylor says the squad is full of belief they will stay up.
“We know that if we keep working hard, the results will come,” the Villa loanee said.
“We’d be more concerned if we weren’t playing well but we are playing well. The whole team believe in each other and believe we will turn it around. We’re not worried.
“We need to keep talking and keep being positive.
“In the group we’ve been speaking about things, making sure we’re all still communicating and, in training, making sure we’re not letting standards slip.
“It’s difficult but I feel we’ve got more than enough in the dressing room to get through.”
Blackett-Taylor joined the Saddlers on loan from Villa in January and has gone to force his way into the side over the past few weeks.
But with his contract at Villa Park up in the summer, he isn’t quite sure what the future holds.
“The conversations that were had with Aston Villa, they said I was at a point where I needed to go and play games, get experience,” the winger continued. “That was the goal – to get experience and prove what I can do.
“There’ll be a conversation at the end of the season.
“I’ll speak and see what’s going to happen for next season.
“At the moment, I’m just trying to focus on what’s going on right now and let everything else happen after that.”
