The Saddlers, who host Gillingham today, have begun the campaign in style with impressive performances over Plymouth and Scunthorpe in League One followed by a Carabao Cup win at Tranmere.

Key to those displays has been the form of their new look front four, made up of Ferrier, Andy Cook, Josh Ginnelly and Zeli Ismail.

And Ferrier believes the quartet have clicked because they all bring different qualities to the team.

“What I think benefits us as a team and players is that we all play a little bit differently,” the striker said.

“My strengths are different to Cookie’s and Zeli’s strengths are a bit different to Gino’s (Ginnelly).

“I feel like we all complement each other well because we all bring different things to the table, we all have different attributes.

“With me and Cookie, he takes a lot of the knocks and I get to do some of the prettier things like running in behind and stretching defences, which is what I like doing.

"We are both good at different things and I think that is helping us and helping the team.”

Ferrier said it’s ideal for a striker to play with wingers like Ginnelly and Ismail who are so good at getting balls into the box.

“That’s the best thing for an attacker – once you know the crosses are coming in, it’s an unbelievable feeling,” he continued.

“With Gino and Zeli you know they can beat their man and get the ball in.

“So if you are not in the box, they have every right to have a go at you.”

Ferrier has only been a Saddlers player for a fortnight after he was snapped up from Boreham Wood.

But he says it’s has taken him no time at all to settle into the club.

“The lads are unreal,” he added.

“The mentality up here is a lot different to London. The lads are a lot more friendly.

“In London, you can go two, three months without talking to certain players in the team.

“But here the banter is great. Everyone is together.”
