Walsall sign striker Morgan Ferrier from Boreham Wood
Striker Morgan Ferrier has become Walsall’s third signing of the day after joining from Boreham Wood for a fee believed to be £35,000.
The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal which includes the option of a further 12 months in the club’s favour.
The forward scored seven goals in 16 appearances for Boreham Wood after re-signing from Dagenham & Redbridge for a club-record fee in February.
While the amount is officially undisclosed, Tranmere Rovers activated the £35,000 release clause in Ferrier’s contract earlier this summer before a move to Prenton Park collapsed.
And it’s understood Walsall have now matched that fee – much to the delight of boss Dean Keates.
“I’m delighted to bring Morgan to the club,” Keates said.
“He’s somebody I’ve always held in high regard.
“He’s hungry, determined and powerful. He’s relentless with his work rate and wants to play on the shoulder. He’ll offer something different up front.
“He’s at the right age and has had a proper football upbringing. He’s scored goals in non-league and has a great goal ratio.
“He’ll be a very good signing for us and the fans will enjoy watching him play.”
