The 21-year-old rejoined the Saddlers on a permanent deal last month having previously had a six-month loan stint at the Banks’s Stadium back in 2016.

That temporary switch proved in-different for the winger who found himself in and out the team.

But he is adamant Walsall’s fans will now see the best of him.

“I’m 21-years-old, it’s coming to the point where I need to prove myself and I know I will,” Ginnelly said.

“When I came here on loan I was quite young. But I learned a lot, probably more off the pitch than on it.

“My mindset now is very different. I hadn’t been out on loan before and it was my first real experience of the Football League. I was still getting to grips with things.

“Initially I couldn’t get in the team. Then I got in the team but then I came out again.

“And I put pressure on myself. It didn’t come from the fans or anywhere else, it was from me – I wanted to be the best I could be.

"It didn’t work out the first time but I’m really looking forward to the new season and showing what I can do.”

Since his last spell at the Banks’s, Ginnelly has enjoyed successful loan stints at Lincoln and Tranmere.

The wideman, who is from Coventry, won promotion to the Football League with both those sides.

And he said both those experiences have been great for his development.

“I have learnt a lot since I was last here,” Ginnelly continued.

“When I was first here I looked at my individual performance first before the collective performance.

“Now though I know what the league is about. I know what is expected of me.

“And I know the fans here just want to see people working hard and that is what I will do.

“I am back home now, that helps a lot. I’m not travelling too far.

“So this the perfect move for me. I’m really looking forward to the season starting and facing Plymouth on the opening day.”
