Walsall pitch in to turf work
Walsall have been busy trying to ensure their Banks’s Stadium pitch is in tip-top shape for next season.
With the use of a couple of tractors, the top layer of turf has been removed.
A fresh layer will then be put in place, going into the 2018/19 campaign.
Despite the Saddlers’ League One season ending on May 5, the Banks’s has played host to a fair few games over the past couple of weeks.
Various cup finals have been held there, including the Walsall Senior Cup final which Rushall Olympic won, beating Walsall Wood on penalties after it finished 2-2 following 90 minutes.
Five games of the UEFA European Under-17s Championships also took place at the ground.
The Netherlands won the tournament.
Meanwhile, Walsall’s new kits were available to purchase from the club shop at the Banks’s today.
The home, away and goalkeeper’s kit all went on sale in store, open from 10am until 3pm.
Priced from £27.99 for juniors and £39 adults, the away strip – navy with red and white trim – went down particularly well with fans after it was unveiled by the Saddlers earlier this week.
