The Saddlers travel to take on Oxford at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday having so far failed to win away from home in 2017.

That run includes defeats at Bristol Rovers and Rotherham in their previous outings away from the Banks's Stadium.

Yet in contrast, their form in front of their own supporters has been impressive with Jon Whitney's side boasting one of the best home records in the country this calendar year.

And Cutler believes it's only a matter of time before Walsall begin picking up results on their travels.

"It's about being more ruthless at the back," the former Villa man said.

"We are working hard to keep clean sheets but to do that we have to be more ruthless.

"At Bristol Rovers we controlled the game but two blips cost us. That is what we are working on eradicating.

"Rotherham hurt. But it was a massive learning curve. It can't happen again.

"But day in, day out we are working to improve. You cannot fault the boys and I think the fans are starting to notice that.

"There is no reason why we cannot push up that league. We have got the players to do that. We have got the work ethic to do that.

"We will keep tweaking things and keep moving forward. But we will definitely move forward.

"There is no way we will stay static because the lads work so hard. I’m pleased with where we are but I know there is far more to come."

Despite their away form, Cutler says Walsall will go to Oxford with confidence.

"We have watched the games – we have had a chat about players and formations," he continued.

"They are a good team, with a good budget and good players.

"But we go there without any fear. We go into every game feeling confident.

"The boys come in every day and put in a shift so we never feel unsure.

"We always go in with a bit of confidence because we know we have got some great players who give us everything they’ve got."
