Walsall's Mitch Candlin joins up with England under-18s
Walsall's teenage star Mitch Candlin has joined up with the England under-18 squad ahead of their upcoming matches against Brazil and South Africa.
The 17-year-old has been invited to train with the Three Lions by boss Steve Cooper.
After initially naming his squad, Cooper made a special trip to watch Candlin play for Walsall's development squad at Shrewsbury last week.
The striker marked the occassion by scoring with a stunning strike from 20-yards.
And that has prompted Cooper to add him to his ranks.
"Mitch reported to St George's Park on Monday to train with England," said Walsall boss Jon Whitney.
"They watched him at Shrewsbury and they really liked him. They want him to go and be introduced in the set-up.
"He was added to the squad so it's not a full cap. But if they get a few injuries, the Brazil game is on Friday and he may come into the fold.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for him. He gets to put his England tracksuit on, which is great for him and his family.
"He is training all week with them but might bring him back for Plymouth."
