The 24-year-old, who was born in Coventry, has become a free agent after deciding against extending his stay with the Scottish Championship side.

Snapped up following a spell at the Strachan Football Foundation – which was founded by Scotland boss Gordon Strachan – Leahy initially joined The Bairns as a left winger in 2012.

But he has excelled ever since being switched to left-back – with the former Rugby Town man going on to become a firm fans favourite north of the border.

Last month it was revealed Walsall boss Jon Whitney was heading to Scotland to scout potential targets with Leahy understood to be one of the players he watched.

But the Saddlers could face competition to land the defender with recently promoted Doncaster Rovers also believed to be keen.

Leahy confirmed last month on Twitter that his next move will see him return to England.

His destination though is not expected to revealed until his Falkirk contract expires in mid-June.

The Saddlers are on the hunt for a new left-back after loanee Scott Laird returned to Scunthorpe at the end of last season.
