Jon Whitney: Walsall transfer talks positive
Walsall boss Jon Whitney has revealed he’s held positive talks with a number of his transfer targets.
The Saddlers manager is spending the weekend watching games in Scotland as he continues to scout players for next season.
But the 46-year-old has been busy holding meetings with potential signings ever since the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
And Whitney is pleased with how talks have progressed.
“We have held positive talks with a number of players,” the boss said.
“Ideally we would like to get a couple in sooner rather than later. That’s what we’d like to do.
“It’s a busy time but we are being very proactive.
“I’m spending the weekend in Scotland taking in a number of games.
“John Ward and Neil Cutler (coaches) are also attending games this weekend.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to spread out, take in some games and cast our eyes over a few players.
“It’s important with our season over that we use the opportunity to look at players in other leagues.”
