Craig MacGillivray: I am ready be Walsall number one
Craig MacGillivray has declared he is '100 per cent' ready to be Walsall's number one next season.
The 24-year-old – back-up to Neil Etheridge for the past two seasons – has been handed a chance to impress after the Saddlers' regular goalkeeper was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
And with Etheridge out of contract and expected to leave this summer, it has opened the door for MacGillivray – who has featured against Shrewsbury and Swindon, and will continue for the remaining three matches of the campaign.
"I'm 100 per cent ready," he said. "That is what I am going out there to do in these five games. I will give it my best and force my way into the team.
"Hopefully the gaffer will see that."
Despite wanting Etheridge's place in the team, MacGillivray says he has formed a bond with the Philippines international.
"We are a very good friends," he said. "Everyone goes on about the goalkeeping union but everyone is together. Whoever is playing, you support them and you give them advice. Everyone has got their own opinions and we all learn together from those opinions."
