Walsall confident of making a new signing
Walsall boss Jon Whitney is confident of adding a new face to his squad ahead of the upcoming friendly with Luton Town.
The Saddlers travel to Kenilworth Road on Saturday to take on the League Two outfit, who are likely to include former Walsall striker Jordan Cook in their team.
Whitney has been working hard over the past few weeks to add to his striking options, with Cook and star striker Tom Bradshaw having departed the Banks's Stadium this summer.
And the Saddlers boss refused to rule out a new arrival ahead of what is Walsall's final pre-season fixture.
He said: "There has been a little bit of movement. There may be something in the next few days. It's a case of watch this space."
Another player Walsall fans would like to see sign is Isaiah Osbourne, who has impressed so far in pre-season.
The 28-year-old joined the Saddlers on one-year-deal last summer but ended up missing the entire campaign with a serious knee injury.
Osbourne was invited to team up with Whitney's squad to prove his injury woes are in the past.
Whitney will speak to the midfielder about his future in the coming days, adding: "Ozzy (Osbourne) is one I will speak to this week.
"He gets paid until the end of July anyway, so there has been no rush. We will sit down and have a chat. It will be between me and Ozzy and we'll take it from there."
Meanwhile, Walsall will hold an opening training session at the Banks's Stadium on Monday (11am). Fans are welcome.
They will then be able to meet Whitney and members of the first-team squad.
On Monday evening, the club will then hold a fans' forum meeting at 7pm.
Supporters will be able to ask questions of chief executive Stefan Gamble and club secretary Daniel Mole.
