Franck Moussa signs as Tom Bradshaw looks set to leave Walsall
Walsall have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Franck Moussa – as striker Tom Bradshaw edges closer to leaving the club.
In what is a major transfer coup for the Saddlers, Moussa has penned a one-year deal, with a further year's option, at the Banks's Stadium.
The Belgian turned down the offer of a two-year contract to remain at League One rivals Southend, where he finished the 2015/16 campaign.
But while Saddlers fans will be delighted at the 26-year-olds arrival, they are now resigned to losing star striker Bradshaw after he was left out of the squad that played in a friendly against Norwich on Saturday.
The Canaries ran our 2-1 winners in the match held behind closed doors at St George's Park National Football Centre.
But it was Bradshaw's absence that was the major talking point with Jon Whitey instead fielding trialists Tahvon Campbell and Jean Pierre Nsame up front.
The Express & Star understands Rotherham have made a club record bid for the Welshman while another unnamed side have expressed a serious interest in signing him.
But while it now looks highly unlikely Bradshaw will begin the 2016/17 season with the Saddlers, Moussa is delighted to be joining the club.
"I'm really pleased to have signed and I feel this is a club where I will fit in nicely," he said.
"Last season the team did well and I like the way they play.
"I spoke to the manager and he explained to me what they're trying to achieve. He sold the club really well to me.
"I will try to contribute as much as I can to the team and hopefully I will bring some moments that can make a difference.
"I feel this is a big season for me. A lot of trust and confidence has been put in me to perform and I really want to do that and hopefully we can have success as a team."
