The match, organised by the club shirt sponsor CAT Communications, takes place on May 22.

It will be the final game played at the ground by Walsall Legends manager Marsh, nicknamed 'Mad Dog', who is hanging his boots up for good this summer. The 44-year-old, who made 479 appearances for the club between 1988 and 2001, will captain a 'Mad Dog' team featuring Saddlers stars of the past, with Zigor Aranalde, Adrian Viveash and Darren Wrack among those already signed up to play.

They will face a 'Cool CATs' team made up of supporters. Fans have until the end of the month to register and must write explaining why they would like to play at the Banks's as part of the application.

"I've been playing for the Legends for several years now and I've had some great times but there comes a point when you have to call it a day – though some people say I should have done that years ago," joked Marsh.

Funds raised will be split between the Last Chance Hotel Animal Rescue and Balls to Cancer – the latter charity chosen following former Saddlers player Kris Taylor's diagnosis with testicular cancer earlier this year.

Fans must register at http://www.catuk.com/bestof.php and say why they want to take part. The closing date is March 31.

and 24 will then be chosen to make up the Cool CATs squad.

Admission for spectators on the night will be £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
