The Saddlers go into Saturday's home clash with Notts County looking to make it four wins from four and extend their perfect start to the season.

Boss Dean Smith has named an unchanged starting line-up for the first three games, though a number of players have been making their case for inclusion.

Romaine Sawyers has impressed in three substitute appearances, while fellow summer addition Troy Hewitt is another challenger for a spot on the forward line.

With Nicky Featherstone trying to break up the central midfield partnership of Sam Mantom and Adam Chambers, Butler believes Smith now has a tough task on his hands when picking the side.

But while some players will undoubtedly have been disappointed not to have featured more so far, the captain says the entire squad is pulling in the same direction.

"It's a squad game and I believe we now have one of the best squads in the league. It will pay dividends over the season," he said.

"We have a great set of lads who want to improve. No-one will sulk. You see with the lads who come on in Troy, Nicky and Romaine.

"They have all come on and done their job and it shows you how important the squad is.

"That's down to the gaffer and Rich, keeping them excited and geed up so when they come on, they are ready."

Smith believes the Saddlers are still nowhere near hitting their potential and it's a view with which his skipper agrees.

"We have a good group of players here who are all willing to learn and improve each game," added Butler.

"We have won three in a row and if we keep striving for improvements every game, we can keep going as long as want.

"It will be a tough game against Notts County. But again we are at home. We want to try and keep our home record going for as long as we can."

Tickets for the Saddlers League Cup second round tie at Stoke City are now on general sale from the Banks's Stadium ticket office, priced at £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.
