Walsall FC players cool on play-off chances
Walsall's "relaxed" players are still reluctant to talk about mounting a League One promotion challenge.
The Saddlers, who were at Swindon today, are coming up fast on the rails of the season-long contenders after a remarkable recovery from their 16-game drought which has brought 10 wins in 14 games.
But midfielder Adam Chambers insisted the team refuse to look too far down the road. "You really cannot look beyond the next match," said Chambers.
"It really isn't possible to start thinking beyond that because no team is going to give you points. Every one has to be earned and that's all we can try to do. But the players are very relaxed and really enjoying their football. We have a formation in which everyone in the squad has confidence.
"It's going well and we know that if we all do our jobs we are going to give the boys up top more chance to express themselves.
"If we get our level of performance right we are going to be a handful for the opposition."
Former Albion man Chambers, 32, insisted that the team weere always confident the mid-season dip could be rescued. He added: "We were all confident we could turn things around. With a young team such as ours, that sort of thing can always happen."
