The winger will stay at the managerless Imps until the end of the season despite boss David Holdsworth leaving Sincil Bank last week.

Ex-Hull boss Phil Brown has been linked to the hot-seat with the Imps 19th in the Blue Square Premier after just one win in 12 games.

And winger Jones, who has made eight appearances for the Saddlers this season, is keen to impress boss Smith and salvage Lincoln's season.

"I know the gaffer (Smith) is keeping close tabs on me, so I want to prove what I can do and at the same time help Lincoln move in the right direction," said the 19-year-old, who has played five games for the Imps.

"It's proving to be a valuable experience. I'm really enjoying it and hopefully I will come back stronger and a better all-round player for it."

Meanwhile, the Banks's Stadium is to host England under-17s' European Championship qualifier with Portugal on March 23.
