Walsall FC get tough cup start against Brentford

Walsall must attempt to end their Capital One Cup (formerly the Carling Cup) first-round nightmare with a tough Banks's Stadium clash against League One rivals Brentford.

The Saddlers have failed to make it past the first round for the last five years with defeats against Middlesbrough, Tranmere, Accrington Stanley, Darlington and Swansea.

Brentford took four points off Dean Smith's side last season, winning at The Banks's and eventually finishing 10 places and 17 points above them.

The Capital One Cup first round acts as a kick-off to the season this year with the games to played the week before the league action gets underway across all four divisions on August 18.

Wolves will face last season's giant-killers Aldershot at Molinuex. The League Two outfit last season reached the fourth round where they lost to Manchester United.
