Jamie Paterson today revealed he has been handed a licence to thrill to inspire a Walsall revival.

The 19-year-old admitted he is revelling in being unleashed on League One by boss Dean Smith as the Saddlers look to kick start their stalling season.

They host Preston on Saturday lying 18th in League One after an eight game winless run in all competitions – which has also left them out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

And Paterson, who has made five appearances this term, said he is playing pressure-free to rouse the Saddlers.

"The gaffer tells me to go out and express myself with no pressure and I am trying to do that," said the winger.
