The New Saints run riot as they cruise past Gresford
The New Saints powered their way into the semi-finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup last night.
The Cymru Premier leaders proved too strong for visiting Cymru North outfit Gresford Athletic as they eased to a 9-0 success at Park Hall.
It took them 16 minutes to open the scoring with Ash Baker the man on target when he headed home from close range.
And Baker was head and shoulders above the opposition again 11 minutes later when he climbed to nod in a corner to make it 2-0.
Saints were in cruise control before the break after a mistake from the visitors saw them give away position on the edge of their penalty with Gwion Dafydd capitalising to add goal number three.
The goals continued to flow after the break with Luke Brennan’s superb volley making 4-0.
Baker then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before turning provided to set up Dafydd for his second of the night.
Dan Williams made it 7-0 on 77 before Adrian Cieslewicz and John Pask rounded off the scoring.
