Stratford Town 1 Stourbridge 2 - Report
First half goals from Alex Nicholls and Tom Tonks handed Stourbridge the points at struggling Stratford.
But it could have been a different story had debutant Dan Sweeney made the most of a series of chances after linking up with the home side on loan from Solihull Moors.
The striker was denied by a last ditch Ash Carter challenge on nine minutes and then a decent save from Charlie Price after being sent in on goal.
But Stratford’s early pressure was rewarded when another debutant Reece Flanagan fired home on 20 minutes from inside the area.
It was all square on 33 minutes when a measured cross from former Stratford favourite Will Grocott found Alex Nicholls who headed in from six yards.
And the turnaround was complete three minutes before the break when Tom Tonks tucked the ball home from close range after latching on to an Anthony Dwyer cross,.
Dwyer twice went close to levelling the scores early in the second half while Stratford’s best chance of salvaging a point fell to Sweeney but his header was pushed over the bar by Glassboys keeper Price.
