Coalville grabbed the lead just after the half hour when Steve Towers latched onto a loose clearance from Kristian Green and set up Luke Shaw to slot home.
It could have been worse as Coalville's Joe Doyle-Charles crashed a tremendous shot against the crossbar on 58 minutes.
Recent signing Jamie Willetts then cleared off the line from an Ellis Storey effort on the hour.
Stourbridge levelled on 81 minutes from an Anthony Dwyer penalty after Storey brought down substitute Alex Nicholls when the former Walsall wideman was clean through on goal.
