St Neots had taken a 15th minute lead which they held until half-time, but Benbow and McCone struck within five minutes to turn the game on its head.

The Glassboys started brightly against their hosts, who came into the game third from bottom, but it was St Neots who broke the deadlock through Dylan Williams’ fine strike.

Stuart Pierpoint couldn’t turn Rob Thompson-Brown’s free-kick goalwards as Stroubridge searched for an equaliser whilst Benbow was denied by a point-blank save, and just before half-time Callum Powell raced clear, but again found the host keeper in fine form.

Powell and Benbow both had efforts saved early in the second half as the visitors stepped up a gear after the break, Benbow heading over before finally levelling the scores on 55 minutes.

St Neots couldn’t clear their lines and as the ball dropped to him in the middle of the box, Benbow’s half-volley found the bottom corner.

They now had a grip on the contest and five minutes later were ahead, McCone left unmarked from a corner to head in the second.

Powell was denied by another good save, whilst Thompson-Brown and Broadhurst both went close to adding a third, Benbow volleying over late on, but two was enough, the Glassboys only trailing Kettering on goal difference after their 3-0 defeat at home to Leiston.
