FA Cup qualifying - Highgate Utd 1 Stourbridge 2 - Report
Stourbridge secured their place in the next round of the cup with a hard-fought victory over a Highgate side who came more into the tie as the game went on.
The Glassboys dominated the opening half with Luke Benbow firing into the side-netting and Greg Mills forcing a good save from keeper Brad Catlow.
It was Kainan Anderson who finally broke the deadlock on 29 minutes, gathering a clever Benbow pass before placing his shot beneath the advancing keeper.
Catlow proceeded to deny Benbow either side of half time but when he failed to deal with a corner ten minutes into the second half, Aaron Hayden doubled Stourbridge’s lead with a header.
Robbie Bunn pulled a goal back with a curling free-kick on the hour but the Glassboys deservedly took their place in Monday’s draw.
