Stourbridge 1 Basford United 0 - Report

Aaron Forde’s bobbling finish ensured Stourbridge avoided an FA Trophy banana skin against in-form Basford United.

Both sides lacked punch in the final third but the verdict was settled in the 61st minute when Kennedy Digie’s burst forward from full-back found Luke Shearer to cut back for Forde to guide inside Saul Deeney’s far post.

The finish was as scruffy as the rest of the match but while Basford were competitive, the Glassboys had more possession and chances throughout.

New recruit Kyle Perry cleared the crossbar from eight yards and nodded into Deeney’s hands after the goal with United substitute Aidan Austin brushing the far angle of post and bar with an 18-yard curler 10 minutes from time.

Victory saw Stourbridge claim £3,250 in prize money and a place in Monday's FA Trophy second qualifying round draw.
