Stourbridge 2 Hednesford Town 0 - Report

A goal in either half saw off a weak Hednesford Town side at the War Memorial Ground in a game where it could have been a lot more comfortable for Stourbridge.

Jordan Archer was on target for Stourbridge.

Matt Dodd made his return to the side and played against his old club, after leaving the Pitmen last week.

He was outstanding throughout and behind a lot of the Glassboys' exciting attacking play.

The home side should have took the lead in only ten minutes in when Jordan Archer sent a header wide.

Dodd then provided a chance for Josh green on 15 minutes with a great cross but again the hosts wasted the opportunity - putting it beyond the post once more.

However, it was Archer who broke the deadlock scoring a cracking opener on the half hour mark with a great drive from 20 yards that shaved the post before hitting the back of the net.

He nearly doubled his tally moments later but the ball rebounded off a defender and harmlessly away from goal.

Ryan Rowe also had the ball in the net just before the break, but it was ruled out for offside.

But Rowe did get on the score sheet fifteen minutes into the second half, when he got a touch to a Jack Duggan header which looked goal bound itself.

Twelve minutes from time Danny O'Callaghan saw a shot saved on the line by James Wren, though it came with controversy as it looked like it may have crossed the line.

Wren did well late on to save a Leon Broadhurst effort as Stourbridge continued to press.

But there was no third goal to be found, as the Glassboys coasted to the win over their nearby neighbours, the game ending 2-0.
