Stafford Rangers release manager Alex Meechan
Stafford Rangers have released manager Alex Meechan from his contract.
The 40-year-old had a turbulent campaign at the helm this season, with the club sitting bottom of the Northern Premier League.
Despite the FA ruling the season null and void due to the coronavirus outbreak, Rangers have decided to axe Meechan – but they have not made any comment on joint manager Andy Fearn.
In a statement from the club, chairman John Bromley said: "It has not been an easy decision but was the only outcome based upon what we believe is best for the business.
"Whilst Alex didn’t achieve the necessary results on the field we would like to thank him for the professionalism he has always shown and for his passion, honesty and integrity. He worked incredibly hard and we wish him all the best for the future.
"He will always be welcome at Stafford Rangers and we now move forward with a determination to succeed during these unprecedented times."
