Stafford Rangers wary of wounded Warrington
Joint boss Alex Meechan has warned Stafford Rangers to beware a ‘wounded animal’ when they host Warrington Town tomorrow. (3pm)
Boro host the promotion-chasing Wire just a fortnight after turning them over in Cheshire.
That 3-2 win eased Stafford’s relegation fears while seriously damaging the title aspirations of Warrington, who sit second in the Northern Premier table. And it means Meechan fully expects the visitors to out for revenge at Marston Road.
He said: “They will be out for revenge and we have to be ready for that.
“I really don’t think any extra motivation is needed. We will be going all-out to make it a difficult game and game for Warrington and try to do double over a very good team.”
Boro, 17th in the table, go into the weekend on a five-match unbeaten run which has seen them pull seven points clear of the drop zone.
Meechan added: “The players have done really well and bought into everything we’ve asked of them.”
Hednesford Town, who sit two places above Stafford in the table, will look to build on their four-match unbeaten run when they travel to Lancaster City. The Pitmen drew 4-4 with Nantwich Town last weekend.
