Ten men Stafford Rangers fell to their second away defeat of the season as South Shields ran out 3-0 winners.

Adam Whitehouse saved the Boro mid-way through the first half after Dan Wright met a Josh Giles ball into the box but the goalkeeper was equal to his effort.

Shields netted the opener on 33 minutes when Gavin Cogdon beat his man in the area before firing home.

Whitehouse made another save early in the second half and he was almost repaid at the opposite end but Kyle Perry saw his low effort saved.

Rangers’ task was made harder when captain Luke Jones received two yellow cards in quick succession and was gave his marching orders after 57 minutes.

The hosts secured the win when Cogdon was brought down inside the box by Whitehouse and Robert Briggs netted from the penalty spot.

Shields scored a third with three minutes remaining with Carl Finnigan netting into the bottom corner.
