Boss Steve Burr is confident returning winger Louis Briscoe will make a big impact at Stafford Rangers this time around.

The 30-year-old is back at Marston Road after a brief spell at the start of last season, and another 10 years ago.

He has also played for Port Vale, Mansfield Town, Torquay United, Wrexham and Tamworth.

"Louis has had spells here before and I know the quality that he's got," said Burr.

"I've seen good signs from him over the pre-season games with us.

"He's a strong lad and a real danger from set pieces.

"He's got plenty of experience in the National League and has played in the Football League as well. He's been at some top clubs.

"I think that he'll do well for us."

Another who has been snapped up is full-back Lewis Banks, after his release from Stoke City.

Boro have taken a look at several trialists over the past few weeks too, one of those being winger Joe Cuff.

Cuff shone at Market Drayton last season in the Northern League First Division South and had a spell on trial at AFC Telford United earlier this summer.

On if he will be earning a Rangers deal, Burr said: "We're discussing things with him as we've been impressed with him.

"He caught the eye at Market Drayton last season and we'll have further discussions with him after a couple more games."

He added: "It's getting down to the nitty-gritty now, deciding who we want to keep and who we can afford to keep.

"It's about finalising everything."
