Stafford Rangers 2 Stalybridge Celtic 0 - Report
Kieren Westwood's wonder goal sealed a solid win for Stafford Rangers over Stalybridge Celtic.
Izak Reid had opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a neat finish after running onto Massiah McDonald's lofted through ball.
And Westwood put the icing on the cake on 50 minutes as he won the ball well, strode forward and unleashed a powerful strike from around 30 yards.
It was back-to-back league wins for the Boro for the first time in nearly five months, and a first clean sheet since the end of January.
Celtic, who have won away just once all season, threatened sporadically, with Matthew Wolfenden denied by a last-ditch block by Kieran Morris and Connor Hughes hitting a volley off the crossbar.
Afterwards, manager Neil Kitching said: "I thought we were dominant throughout and fully deserved the victory.
"We've played some really good stuff, put the ball into good areas, won territory and should have won by a greater margin.
“We were defensively sound, looked after their front two, won all the firsts and seconds – that’s the first game all season where we’ve won everything in the middle of the field.
“And when we were able to play, we were the better team in terms of getting it down and passing it.”
