Stafford Rangers 1 Stourbridge 0 - Report and pictures

Stourbridge manager Gary Hackett will be wondering what he needs to do to turn around a dismal run of form that has seen the Glassboys pick up just one point from their last four league games.

A disappointing first half saw confidence lacking on both sides as chances were few and far between.

Stourbridge had the better of the possession and territory but the only effort of note fell to the lively Kaiman Anderson but he dragged his shot wide of Adam Whitehouse’s goal.

The second half was a far more open affair and will be remembered for the excellent work of Stafford’s Massiah McDonald who struck the only goal of the game on 76 minutes. The striker had already gone close with a shot that flew over the Stourbridge target before finding the net with a shot from the left of the penalty area, the ball appeared to go through the legs of Stourbridge defender Daryl Westlake to leave Glassboys keeper Matt Gould unsighted.

The visitors did have the ball in the net just before McDonald’s winner only to have the effort chalked off for offside and they had penalty appeals turned down late in the game when Matt Dodd appeared to be fouled by Kai Davis only for the referee to book the Stourbridge payer for diving.
